The Illinois Capitol Kennel Club has been in existence for over 50 years. In 2004 we celebrated our 50th anniversary of holding conformation events. Our original name was State Fair Kennel Club. The Illinois Capitol Kennel Club is a Member club of the AKC.
We have over 50 members and they live in and around Springfield, Illinois and Sangamon County. The membership owns, breeds, and competes in AKC approved conformation events throughout the entire United States. Our membership includes six AKC approved conformation judges.
General Membership meetings are held once a month on the first Wednesday of the month at one of the local restaurants.
We are a member of the Prairieland Cluster of Dog Shows, four days of conformation competition, held in Springfield, IL in late October each year. We sponsor a 'sanctioned match' each year during the Prairieland Cluster.
We also sponsor conformation event training, usually held in six week sessions several times a year. If you are interested, please contact us. A moderate fee is charged for this training.
Here's an interactive chart that shows you how much of each type of chocolate it takes to poison your dog. It's pretty nifty. It has aslider that you move to get to the weight of your dog - the amounts change as the weight changes. It is very handy.
